Hannah De los Reyes
Hannah De los Reyes is a Filipino-Canadian artist and educator currently based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born in the Philippines and immigrating to Canada in 2017, she is currently pursuing an MFA with a studio concentration in printmaking at the University of Manitoba, following a BFA from Brandon University in 2024.
Her current practice explores how migration has shifted her perception of who she is as she navigates a new life, adapt to a new culture and continue to understand herself as an immigrant. Through the use of her own body as a site of exploration, her work evokes feelings of discomfort, displacement, and uncertainty reflecting the emotional complexities of migration and ongoing process of negotiating between who she was, who she is, and who she is becoming.
Alongside her studio practice, De los Reyes is an arts educator and community facilitator. She has taught through galleries, independent workshops, and community programs, and currently works as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Manitoba. Her work has been exhibited and commissioned in Manitoba and internationally, and she has received numerous scholarships and academic honours throughout her studies.
Artist Statement
Hannah Delos Reyes’ practice continues to explore migration, identity, belonging, and cultural memory. Building from her experiences as a Filipino-Canadian immigrant, her current work uses the body as a site of exploration, examining the emotional complexities of displacement and the ongoing negotiation between past and present, familiarity and change.
Working primarily in painting and drawing, Delos Reyes continues to expand her practice through interdisciplinary approaches, exploring how personal experience, inherited histories, and cultural memory shape an evolving sense of self.
